WATCH MIDNIGHT FIREWORKS AT FRANK KITTS LAGOON

Farewell the year down at Frank Kitts lagoon and welcome 2019 with a bang, music and food trucks. This family-friendly event is suitable for all ages. The Richter City Rebels, New Zealand's first New Orleans brass band, will be entertaining until 10pm. The Cut Outs will follow, and will make it impossible to not get up and dance toward the new year. With food trucks on hand, the event is one not to be missed. Kids who may find it difficult to stay up until midnight can enjoy an early countdown at 9pm. The evening will end at midnight with an array of fireworks lighting up the night sky to ensure the year ahead will be just as dazzling. One final perk: the event is free.

Bring in the new year in on a plate with a delectable meal from St Johns Bar & Eatery. Perfectly perched on the waterfront, the eatery is guaranteed to put on a show with a view and mouthwatering flavours. Live music by Lauren Armstrong & The Trad Stompers and breathtaking swing dancing will be swaying into the heart of Aro Valley from 8.30pm-12.30am. Sugarfoot Stomp are a collective of passionate people that support Wellington talent and can show off a move or two. One Year Closer is a multi-stage party taking over Valhalla this December 31. Listen to local talent and rave the year away. The R18 event will be presenting acts such as Church of Goya, Mother Dearest, Zozo, Clay Louis, Toymota, Toss3r, DJ F**k Cops, Leda and more. Taking place from 8pm-3am, tickets are on sale for $40.
