Kids who may find it difficult to stay up until midnight can enjoy an early countdown at 9pm. The evening will end at midnight with an array of fireworks lighting up the night sky to ensure the year ahead will be just as dazzling. One final perk: the event is free.

Bring in the new year in on a plate with a delectable meal from St Johns Bar & Eatery. Sugarfoot Stomp are a collective of passionate people that support Wellington talent and can show off a move or two. One Year Closer is a multi-stage party taking over Valhalla this December 31. Listen to local talent and rave the year away. The R18 event will be presenting acts such as Church of Goya, Mother Dearest, Zozo, Clay Louis, Toymota, Toss3r, DJ F**k Cops, Leda and more. Taking place from 8pm-3am, tickets are on sale for $40.
