Auckland-based radio station George FM will be launching their own frequency into Wellington come Monday, January 12 2015. The popular show resonates well with the 25-40 demographic, with it's twenty four hour mix of house, breaks, drum and bass, dubstep, electro, soul, downbeat, jazz, funk, indie electronica, hip-hop and other dance and electronica music.

What started as a volunteer run low power station in a spare bedroom in Grey Lynn, Auckland, the now commercially-owned radio station continues to gain traction, while maintaining it's laid back style of radio, and now hosts over 70 regular paid and volunteer Dj's who broadcast from the small Ponsonby Road studio. Hosts include the stations co-founder Thane Kirby, Kara Rickard, and prominent DJ's such as Dan Aux, Aroha, Dick Johnson, Tim Richards and more. It will be interesting to see how the shows will evolve including localised content and promotion over the coming months.

We are certainly big fans of George here at Concrete Playground and wish them all the best in the Capital.
