New Year's festival Northern Bass is set to unleash a huge three days of end-of-the-year celebrations, with the festival's lineup locked and loaded. Attendees can bring in 2024 with the Netsky, Homebrew, Goldie and more among the rolling green farmland of Kaiwaka, just north of Mangawhai, and a hop, skip and a jump away from some of Northland's most beautiful beaches.

Northern Bass kicks off on Friday, December 29 and runs until Monday, January 1, 2024, with each day filled with bigger acts than the last. Most punters camp on the festival grounds, with a wide range of different camping areas, including glamping and caravans to hire, if you're not into the traditional tent. Over the past few years, Northern Bass has also offered a Green Camp, where festivalgoers are offered pre-pitched tents on a premium campsite, after agreeing to leave their area exactly as they found it come New Year's Day.

The 2023–24 Northern Bass lineup features both international and local acts, leaning heavily into the drum and bass scene. Northern Bass has two stages: the Jungle Stage, which is packed with grime-loving crowds in the early evening; and the Main Stage, where you'll find punters moshing late into the night (or early hours of the morning) to the headlining artists.

The official program for each day is yet to be announced, so we don't yet know who will be bringing in January 1 with the Northern Bass crowd. Netsky could certainly be a contender, with the successful Belgian-born DJ often being referred to as a honorary New Zealander after spending more than ten summers in Aotearoa. And really, who could blame him?

New Zealand's own Home Brew have been making the gig rounds this year to promote the reissue of their self-titled album ten years on, stoking the loyalty of old fans and creating new ones along the way.

Punters can also expect DJ sets from the likes of Sigma, the UK drum and bass duo responsible for hits like 'Changing' and 'Nobody to Love' — and UK DJ Nicolaas Douwma, better known as Sub Focus.
