There's nothing like the capital on a good day, especially when international music legends are visiting.

Everyone knows that New Zealand's capital is at its best on a good day. Now, a whole concert series has been named after the phrase that rolls off a Wellingtonian's tongue as soon as the sun attempts to shine through the clouds.

On a Good Day will be held in Anderson Park, nestled among Wellington's Botanic Gardens, from Thursday, November 30–Saturday, December 2. Rather than an all-day festival, this is a concert series, with one act performing at the outdoor amphitheatre each evening. What On a Good Day might seemingly lack in quantity, it's making up for in quality, with Australian singer-songwriter Matt Corby, Irish singer Dermot Kennedy and The War on Drugs taking the stage on one night each.

First up on Thursday, November 30 is Kennedy, who started his career busking on the streets of Dublin and playing at open mic nights. He kept at this for almost a decade before he was signed to a label. Two albums and multiple hit songs later, he's performing in Wellington for the very first time.

American rock band The War on Drugs is up next, and will be performing songs from their fifth studio album I Don't Live Here Anymore. The band will be accompanied by special guests Spoon, with Sydney singer Indigo Sparke opening for the group.

Closing out the concert series is Australian singer-songwriter Matt Corby, fresh from releasing his third album Everything's Fine, and with R&B singer Allen Stone as a special guest. If you're a Corby fan but you can't make it to the capital for the concert series, he'll also be performing to a small audience at Auckland's Powerstation on Friday, December 1, with tickets available from Live Nation.

WellingtonNZ's General Manager for Events and Experience Warrick Dent said that On a Good Day is "great addition to Wellington's event calendar".

"The Botanic Gardens is the perfect spot for the series and will continue to ensure the capital retains its reputation as a destination for great events."
