Overview

On Friday, 2 August prepare to walk around central Wellington as if you've stepped back in time. As part of Wellington On a Plate, Visa Festival Hub at Prefab Hall on Jessie Street will be hosting the 80s Power Lunch.

Sponsored by WineFriend, this lunch will be shoulder pad friendly, oversized earring expectant and blow waves are most definitely encouraged. With best-dressed prizes, why wouldn't you take this opportunity to over-do the blusher, throw on the MC Hammer pants and exude your lunchtime confidence through your lipstick.

Chief tasting officer Yvonne Lorkin, WineFriend's most experienced wine guru, will take you through the best pairings for the 80s-inspired dishes — you don't have to stick to that $7 bottle everytime you're feeling daring. Tasting canapes and the odd sit-down meal, everyone will be inspired to mingle, whack shoulder pads and comment on how far wine really has come.

The ticket price includes three tasting glasses of wine and all the food, so you might be sucking in that tummy on the way home. Be quick – Prefab is hot right now and so is wine, buy your tickets while you still can.
