Overview

Sydney's Acme is teaming up with Dan Gillett of Wine Diamonds to bring the not-strictly Italian restaurant to Wellington, residing at neighbourhood eating house Rita for two nights next week.

The snazzball eating spot is known for its twisted Italian-Asian flavours and easy pasta and snacks (and truly beaut plates). Teamed up with Dan's natural wine list, you can expect dishes such as stracciatella, tamarillo and folded beetroot, barbecue kalettes and toasted almond butter, or pigs' head macaroni with smoked egg yolk amongst the nine-dish experience of snacks, mains and dessert.

Owner and head chef Mitch Orr will even be bringing certain pastas and other ingredients all the way from Australia with him to make Rita truly feel like a slice of Sydney. Opened in 2014, by partners Andy Emerson, Cam Fairnbairn, Mitch Orr and Ed Loveday, Acme draws inspiration from all over the world, but most notably from Asia and Italy — where Mitch worked under Massimo Bottura at Osteria Francescana. He also co-hosts Sydney food podcast The Mitchen with Andrew Levins.

Mitch will be joining the Rita team of Kelda Hains, Matt Hawke and Paul Schrader over the two nights, each with two seatings.

This is going to be fun. Bookings are essential.
