Overview
There's more to Andrew Keoghan that having a big brother who hosts The Amazing Race. The LA-based singer returns to Wellington this month promoting his second album, Every Orchid Evening.
As with his breakout album, Arctic Tales Divide, Orchid brings together strong pop sensualities and R'n'B hooks with a orchestral backdrop (Keoghan cut his teeth performing opera and classical music). His music has drawn comparisons to late-era David Bowie and the late songsmith would surely approve of Keoghan's tunes about sexuality, gender roles and the strange, beautiful world in which we find ourselves.
Keoghan is playing with bassist Cass Basil (Tiny Ruins) and drummer Alistair Deverick (Lawrence Arabia). Time to dust off that velvet smoking jacket; it's all going to be unfashionably romantic.
