Overview

Blue Velvet is a union of people and printed paper, a concert featuring bedroom producers Lontalius and Skymning, and the first solo exhibition by Dirk Peterson in Wellington.

Auckland-based freelance artist Dirk Peterson is known for his illustration and design. His most recent output includes two new t-shirt designs as part of AS Colour's Little Help Project, a collaborative venture allowing artists to put their designs into print. For the Blue Velvet event, he has created a series of hand printed t-shirts for the two featured musicians, risograph prints, and will possibly showcase some zines.

Lontalius is Eddie Johnston. The project has seen him experience a whirlwind of attention in the last year thanks to articles from The Fader, collaboration with Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth, and the beautifully intimate track, ‘Light Shines Through Dust’. The prolific songwriter has also just been accepted to attend this year's Red Bull Music Academy in Paris.

Fellow Wellingtonian Skymning is part of electronic music collective Kerosene Comic Book. He's known for serene instrumental tracks that utilise environmental field recordings. The show may be his last for a while.

On the night there will be beverages thanks to Six Barrel Soda Co.
