Overview

Off the back of her debut album Little Queen, Christchurch songwriter Bryony Matthews will embark on a three-date tour that includes shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Daughter of a poet and African drummer, it seemed Matthews was destined to continue the creative trend. Described as 'new folk', her music envelops the sound of a road trip on a sunny day. The song 'Alexander' in particular uses the upbeat melody that rolls over you while transporting you to the summer, sun-soaked, lupine hills of Central Otago.

Elsewhere, 'Gypsy Prince' offers insight into just how incredible Matthew's voice is in range and substance. Being lyric focused all the songs on the album are from the heart and will certainly resonate with those who have loved and lost.

Having studied music at Unitec, Matthews was able to call upon drummer AJ Parks and Adam Hattaway to play the guitar. With their collaboration, they have created a debut album that will certainly not be Matthews last. Support at all shows from Dictaphone Blues (solo) and Emily Fairlight.
