Overview
Even though it's technically spring, Wellington is still decidedly chilly. So, take a leaf out of the Scandinavians' book and head to the sauna. The Wellington Waterfront is currently playing host to the Pop-Up Sauna, a repurposed shipping container converted to a wooden-interiored space that's a compact slice of Finland. Seating 15, equipped with changing rooms and plenty of space to spread out, the sauna is the perfect way to hang out with friends and sweat it out while the Wellington weather does its thing outside.
The only things you need to bring are $8, a towel and your togs. The sauna will provide drinking water and a warm outdoor shower for after your sauna, to ease you back into the cooler reality of the city. It's the perfect stop gap until summer decides to show face.
