Overview
The Wellington Potters' Association has produced an evocative exhibition, and one of the hidden gems of the Wellington visual arts calendar.
The beautiful Academy Gallery on Queens Wharf will host the exhibition, from a host of established as well as novice potters and artists. What started as a hobby for many is now an impressive full-scale fine arts exhibition. You can witness anything from handbuilt sculpture to smaller detailed pieces. You can make (nearly) anything from clay — and the intricate skill set that comes with the mastery of ceramic wares is evident in every piece on display.
The guest curator, exhibitor and selector of Ceramicus is Richard Stratton, an internationally-known Wellington-based artist.
Come along and get inspired — who knows, clay might be your new obsession.
