Overview

For the inner history geeks among us, museums have a certain reverence: their hallowed halls hold endless sources of stories, sights and an insight into human nature throughout their collections.

Wellington Museum are celebrating International Museums Day by holding a lunchtime talks series this week with their curators from their different departments—from Social History to Maori, Science and the Head of Exhibitions and Collections. Entry is free, so you don't have to spend your lunch money. Whether you're interested in the inspirations behind exhibitions, what the curators are working on or a typical day as a curator, it's an easy way to slot some culture into your day and learn a bit more about the inner workings of one of New Zealand's biggest museums.

The week's schedule is as follows:

Monday 16 May: Nik Bullard, Social History Curator
Tuesday 17 May: David Waller, Head of Exhibitions & Collections
Wednesday 18 May: Brent Fafeita, History Curator
Thursday 19 May: Haritina Mogosanu, Science Curator
Friday 20 May: Tina Makereti, Maori Curator
