Overview

The Wellington Botanic Gardens will become the backdrop for this year's Hanukkah in the Park, a cultural event including a range of significant rituals as well as entertainment for the whole family.

Get comfy on your picnic blanket and settle in for traditional Israeli and kosher foods, live music, Israeli dance performances including Hanukkah-themed Zumba, craft stalls and more. There will also be a special candle lighting ceremony.

The event is family friendly and a chance to experience a different way of celebrating the holidays with something for everyone. Hanukkah is the Jewish eight-day festival of lights, that celebrates the rededication during the second century B.C. of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.

Entry is free and gates open at 11am. The festivities are put on by the Embassy of Israel in partnership with the Wellington City Council, Wellington Jewish Community Centre and Temple Sinai.
