Happy Together

Forget about the bad times. Using a shredder.

Overview

In what might be the best broken heart therapy since it became illegal to burn another person's belongings, The Date Club suggest using a shredder. 'Happy Together ' is a part of the Love and Intimacy series, a set of practises that aim to help people interact and foster relationships, and share their emotions openly and honestly. Except, you know, using a shredder.

The premise is simple. You go along to the In Good Company Space on Cuba Street with nothing but yourself and a good attitude. You'll be presented with a pen and some paper. Then you'll be given time to write a letter. Write to whomever you wish, it's completely personal and there is no need to share your message. Then everyone is given the opportunity to shred their work. This is not a drill. You get to go full rom-com-breakup style crazy with it.

Run by Auckland based artist Jessica Francis as part of a performance-based social project, the goal is to bring people together and instigate interaction. It is an opportunity to literally dispose of the bad memories, and replace them with new ones. How therapeutic.
