Overview

If you like your drinks shaken, stirred, muddled or mixed, add a dash of fizz to your May with Wellington's second dedicated spirits and cocktail festival.

Taking place at the historic art deco Dominion Museum Building, Highball is a celebration of fine spirits, creative cocktails and master mixologists. Brought to you by the team behind Welly On a Plate and Beervana, Highball tops off a trifecta of tantalising Wellington festivals, showcasing crafters, makers and shakers.

Local distilleries will be pouring their wares alongside exciting international producers. Sample the goods from more than 30 gin, whisky, rum and vodka producers, including pioneering Kiwi craft producers such as Southward Distilling Co., Cardrona Distillery, Koa Koa Limoncello and Curiosity Gin, as well as international producers such as Monkey Shoulder Whisky from Scotland, Black Tears Rum from Cuba and Citadelle Gin from France.

If you fancy learning a thing or two, tune into the speaker series, where industry experts will school you in the art and appreciation of mixology. The two-day festival will be followed by Wellington Cocktail Week, showcasing the capital's rich and colourful cocktail scene with a series of events, special menus, masterclasses and walking tours hosted by local bars and restaurants.

If you're looking for a neat festival, Highball is sure to leave you in good spirits. Tickets on sale from March 11.
