Overview

Meow is bringing together poets from opposite sides of the world.

Ken Arkind from Denver, USA and NZ-born, Tourettes, explore controversial topics in their spoken word poetry. Up the alleyway at Meow, this event runs deep with the emotions of this generation.

Spoken word sits in the common ground between rap and traditional poetry. While Arkind touches on a variety of topics, each heavy with passion, Tourettes explores issues closer to the heart of NZ. The poet takes inspiration from his surroundings, the faces of his local supermarket and NZ political issues. Thursday night, Tourettes will celebrate the debut of his new album, Feel like shit, looking great!

Representing Auckland's finest and the heart of American slam poetry, the two will be mixing it up with brand new rhymes and a few golden oldies. One night special bringing international poets together, this is a good opportunity to wind down and soak in that Welly culture.
