Overview
Experience all five senses at Hippopotamus this August with their Lights Off dining experience. As a part of this year's Wellington on a Plate, Hippopotamus will be serving up an epic seven-course sensory degustation menu, with each course designed to stimulate one of the five sense: taste, smell, sight, touch and sound.
With every course you'll experience a new sensation and a step outside of your culinary comfort zone. Test your sight with a Woody's free-range coppa and Granny Smith apple, tomato, ginger and cucumber consommé. Enjoy the smells of Awatoru albacore tuna pastrami with saffron, shallot vinaigrette and manuka smoke.
Listen carefully as you're served crayfish with harvest wakame, sea chicory and aromatic olive oil. Then, experience a taste sensation with grass-fed lamb rack, black garlic jus and Wellington Chocolate Factory's chocolate paint with a mint and horseradish macaroon. End your dining experience with the fifth sense, touch, and indulge in Six Barrel Soda's strawberry and cream syrup with Ōtaki honey and hibiscus.
