Overview

Mary's Christmas takes the classic biblical road trip story and turns it into a seasonal sketch show.

The story, written by Wellington comedy troupe Discharge, follows newlyweds Joseph and the heavily pregnant Mary as they travel to Bethlehem for the census. On the way, Mary prepares herself for the toils of mothering a famous child, three “wise” men struggle with buying baby appropriate gifts and Joseph learns the truth about childbirth.

Mary’s story is interspersed with a series of fast-paced sketches exploring different aspects of Christmas, from an unconventional Christmas Pantomime to the insecurities of a Christmas tree decoration.

All profits from the show will go to Women’s Refuge.
