Overview

For all you space fans out there, there's a week of excitement heading your way at MOON1 Bar in Newtown. From music to comedy to pizza, this rocking week of space-themed magic will have something to entice even the strongest moon-landing conspiracy theorist.

Starting with the Special Edition Monday Moon Quiz, there'll be six rounds of questions. Expect to be scratching your head as you dig deep to find the answers to anything moon related, including music, space and a few unknowns. The $2 entry fee will be going towards the Tapu Te Ranga rebuilding fund. There will be prizes, so bring your best astronauts along on the night.

On Thursday, 18 July MOON1 hosts the Astronaut Comedy Night. With a $10 entry fee, and only $8 if you wear a tin-foil hat, you'll be laughing the night away while eating the pizza of the month – the Ziggy Stardust. Featuring rocket fuel sauce, rocket salad and craters of pepperoni, is there a food more suited for a moon landing anniversary?

If you're a big music fan, you won't want to miss Saturday's show. 'The Eagle Has Landed' starts at 8pm, featuring Wellington's very own Cosmonaut funk group Moon Lander and a few special guests. Visuals and audio of the original moon landing will be shown alongside the band, and MOON1 has even arranged to land their very own Lunar Landing Module – this will be one trippy night out in Newtown.

So if you find yourself in Newtown, or you're looking for a bevvy of events that'll have you laughing, munching and boogieing your way through space, head to MOON1 bar this month from July 15–21 – you won't be disappointed.
