Overview

For a good birthday bash you need good tunes, great food and outstanding company. And for Moon1 Bar's Epic 5th Birthday, you'll be treated to all that and more — party hats are welcome.

On August 31, Newtown's favourite bar gets to turn five, and to celebrate there'll be a whole host of local bands to get you moving from 6pm to the early hours. From a killer lineup including DJ Sacred Herb (Gussie Larkin), Mamazita, Swagman and O & The Mo, you won't even want to stop to wipe the sweat from your forehead. And with two stages, that'll be a lot of sweat.

But if you do decide to take a moment to chill, it'll be your last opportunity to taste Moon1's entry for Wellington On a Plate. Counting The Beet is a vegan burger filled with manuka-smoked tofu feta, served with beetroot-dyed fries – make sure to grab two of this Insta-worthy burger because they're sure to sell out on the night.

As always, Moon1 Bar is here for you when it comes to the crafty aficionados. For a regular birthday party, you might expect something a little exciting, palate popping for only a moment. But for an epic 5th birthday? Well, that's something quite different. Going all out, Moon1 Bar and Auckland brewery Epic have collaborated to create the curveball that is Saturn V Pale Ale. Why is it a curveball? Try it and find out.

If Moon1's birthday bash sounds like the party you've been waiting for but never got round to attending, then you'd better buy yourself a ticket. Only $15 from Under The Radar or $20 at the door on the night, you know you'll kick yourself if you don't go. Plus, you don't even have to get them a birthday card.
