Oktoberfest at Jack Hackett's
Can't pop over to Germany to celebrate Oktoberfest? We've got the next best thing right here in the capital.
Overview
It's that time again: to wish that you're in Germany for the next month, or to do your best to pretend you are even while you're right here at home. That's the kind of response that Oktoberfest inspires — because we can't all always head over to Europe just for the annual brew-fuelled celebration. Wellingtonians can hit up this year's Bavarian Bash at the capital's go-to Irish pub Jack Hackett's on Saturday, October 8.
Dig into the pub's Bavarian Board: a heady mix of delicious German sausages (kransky & bratwurst) with wholegrain mustard, chicken schnitzel, twice-cooked pork belly, sour kraut, and warm salted pretzels from the legends at Brezelmania, served with hot cheddar sauce. You can wash all that down with two litres of German-style beer for just $99.
Bratwursts won't be the only bangers — the country's famous Bavarian brass band, Steinbenders will be belting out the tunes.
Head to the pub's website to book your spot now — it's the perfect way to hide from the random icy cold snap that's hit the country this week. Lederhosen are not compulsory but strongly encouraged.
