Overview

City Gallery's much-loved Tuatara Open Late series is back for 2020, with another year of art, music, film, talks, beer, wine and food. Kicking off at 5pm on Thursday, March 5, the first Open Late for the year will see the contemporary gallery's exhibitions open later than usual. You'll also get the chance to munch on some tasty eats from The Greek Food Truck while enjoying a cash bar and live beats.

Kicking off the evening's events, Isabella Loudon and Kirsty Lillico will take the stage to discuss their work in the latest exhibition, Unravelled. This exhibition brings five artists together in a celebration of disorder and irregularity in art. Using a range of somewhat unexpected materials, the group of modern artists play with the themes of decomposition and disorganisation.

The evening will then open up to a panel discussion, with conversations on how to set up an artist-run initiative. This is the perfect opportunity to soak up some knowledge and inspiration from fellow creatives in our city. Tuatara Open Late wouldn't be complete without an incredible live performance. On the bill for the March 5 event is musical duo Hamerkop, who will perform Remote an immersive, multi-speaker sonic experience which combines electronica, pop and field recordings. Entry is by donation.
