Overview

In line with Wellington Pride Festival, Te Papa is hosting an evening of queer song, dance and taonga.

Out After Dark invites visitors to revisit the glitz and glam of a bygone era with a pop-up exhibition, including pieces from the legendary Carmen, and then take part in an in-depth kōrero with acclaimed artist Yuki Kihara — New Zealand's representative at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022.

From there, you can enjoy the vibrant sights and sounds of performances with LGBTQI+ themes, including DJ Lady Shaka serving up indigenous realness with her eclectic playlist. While you're dancing the night away, stay hydrated and grab a bite to eat from Te Papa's pop-up bar.
