Paintvine in the Park
The famous group painting classes are heading outdoors for summer.
Overview
Paint-and-sip nights typically see would-be Picassos assemble in venues for glow-in-the-dark painting experiences and wine-fuelled sketching lessons. In time for summer, Paintvine's famous group classes are heading outdoors for BYO painting in some of the country's leafiest settings.
For its 2023 season, Paintvine's outdoor painting classes will see participants tackle scenic scenes and still lives — including a coastal landscape called 'Summer in New Zealand', Van Gogh-inspired sunflowers, and for those in the capital, Wellington's Oriental Bay.
In Wellington, picturesque central spot Boat Harbour Park will serve as the venue across four dates: Wednesday, January 18 from 6-8pm, Saturday, January 21 from 2-4pm, Wednesday, January 25 from 6-8pm and Saturday, January 28 from 2-4pm.
An absolute beginner? Don't worry. No previous experience or artistic skills are required as one of the Paintvine artists will be on hand to lead each session with step-by-step instructions. Paintvine provides everything you need to create your masterpiece during each two-hour session, from acrylic paints to canvases, brushes and paint trays.
Food and drink wise it's BYO — just leave the booze behind for this one as the area has a liquor ban. Instead, pack a picnic or pick up takeaways from one of the nearby eateries, grab a coffee to get fuelled and let your creative juices flow.
