St Bernard's College

183 Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt

It might not currently be easy to visit the motherland, but the Polish Association in New Zealand is hoping to bring some European cheer to Lower Hutt this Sunday, May 2.

The Polish Festival is about celebrating the nation's culture and sharing all things Polish with the broader community. The market is known for its good Polish food, arts and crafts and live entertainment in an old-fashioned neighbourhood marketplace atmosphere.

From 11am–4pm at St Bernard's College a range of stalls will be selling fine Polish beers — including NZ's remaining stock of Browar Staropolski — plus delicate faworki pastry twists, traditional smoked kiełbas and some delicious pierogi dumplings.

The entertainment schedule throughout the day includes performances from a traditional Polish dance troupe, a Balkan folk act and an eight-piece world folk-jazz ensemble.
