Overview
Māori culture will be centre stage at the biennial Te Matatini festival taking place in Wellington for the first time in 20 years. The kapa haka festival is estimated to attract 65,000 punters through the doors from February 20-24.
A total of 46 teams from across Aotearoa and Australia will show the ongoing value and growth of kapa haka on a stage incorporating the world's largest carving — Te Mahau Ko Te Matatini sits at 30 metres wide and 13 metres high.
You can also stream the performances on Māori Television.
