Overview

Nothing makes for good conversation starters while rubbing shoulders at parties about who's watched what TED talk lately, but it's not every day that you get the opportunity to be a part of the global ideas-spreading sessions. This year, the theme is all about chance.

Self-hosted conferences are TED's way of getting ideas shared from across the globe. Following on from previous successful events in the capital, this year's well-rounded program is set to shed insight from all corner's of the country. Wa Collective's Olie Body will take the same stage as Ghost Fishing's Rob Wilson. The conference is all about sharing ideas of mindfulness, social justice and reshaping the global economy, alongside musings of being a weird kid in rural New Zealand. Everyone is promised to come away with one lightbulb moment.

In a bizarre turn of events, there are still a few seats left for the ever-inspiring lineup. Head on over to the Facebook and register your interest today. Taking place at the newly built Te Auaha this August 11, tickets are served on a give-what-you-can basis. Get your name in quick, you won't want to take a chance on this.
