Overview

I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey. Now 44 years after its release, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic musical horror comedy film or lifestyle for some. Once again, wild and untamed Wellingtonians will be flocking to the Embassy Theatre on Friday, 20 September in corsets, fishnets, aprons and heavy eyeliner.

A $35 ticket will not only give you access to the best film Tim Curry has ever been in (he sings, he dances, he wears blue eyeshadow) but it also includes a free glass of wine or beer, or a cola and popcorn. For a true Rocky Horror experience, buy the interactive goodie bag when buying a ticket. For those who ask for nothing, they shall receive it…in abundance. But for those who pre pay, prepare to be amazed, enthused and carefree like never before — throwing toilet roll, confetti and blowing party whistles, the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Wellington truly is an experience worth paying for.

But it's not all about the goodie bags — remember, this event only happens once a year. When time is fleeting, madness takes its toll. With a photobooth, a floor show and multiple bars set to make it easier for those in heels, dressing up is most certainly encouraged, rewarded and raved about for weeks after. Be quick with those tickets — if this is something you've always wanted to go to and always been too shy, this is your time to shine — don't dream it, be it.
