Overview

If you've been meaning to tick the eighth wonder of the world off of your bucket list, now is your chance, and it's been made even easier for Wellington residents with the Terracotta Warriors Wellington City Residents Free Day.

If you're a true Wellingtonian with a bank statement or utility bill to prove it, you can get into the exhibition at Te Papa for free on Tuesday, 9 April. To gain entry all you need to do is turn up on the day with suitable proof of your residence — basically something official with your name and address printed on it.

The Terracotta Warriors are over 2000 years old and are a sight to behold. Since December 2018, a handful of the ancient imperial icons have made Wellington their temporary home as part one of Te Papa's remarkable exhibits. The exhibition features eight warriors standing at 180cm tall, two full-size horses, and two half-size replica bronze horse-drawn chariots.

Each resident with ID is entitled to four free tickets. This is a chance of a lifetime so be prepared to battle the crowds, there will be live updates on the Facebook event page about ticket availability throughout the day.
