The 2014 New Zealand International Film Festival in Context
Our film festival vs the world.
Overview
The New Zealand International Film Festival first officially screened a 35mm roll of film in 1969. Since then it's spawned into a multi-city event across Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin - hitting the 100,000 audience member mark in 2005.
The four-week course, held at Rutherford House, examines the 2014 New Zealand International Film Festival in context with the changing shape of world cinema - using specific films to investigate and illuminate the current state of world cinema. The course is a little bit of an induction for people who want a broader context for their film festival viewing experience, as well as an opportunity for discussion with like-minded others.
