Overview

Pinocchio's classic lament is being reinvigorated in a new stage play thanks to Steffen Kreft, William Connor and Phill Jones. A story about the swan song of originality, The Kitchen at the End of the World stars a cast of seven marionettes who discover the final, original combination of musical notes and words - in spite of being limited by their strings.

A cynical poet and a romantic musician come to the morbid conclusion that there is only one song left in the world undiscovered. Every combination of words has been exhausted, and each musical note has been played, aside from the last song, The puppets then embark on their life mission, to write and play the last original song in the world. The show deals with the underlying theme of boundaries, not only with the limited range of notes and words available to artists, but also in a self-aware sense, addressing the boundaries placed upon the characters due to their puppeteers and strings.

The Kitchen at the End of the World sold out in its debut season at the Greytown Arts Festival in 2012.
