Overview

From Eraserhead to Twin Peaks, David Lynch has made us gasp, hide behind duvets and shout at the telly more times than an hour-long episode of Shortland Street. With multiple stories within stories, strange, lurking characters you can almost always relate to, beautiful settings and off-kilter music, Lynch's worlds are unnerving because they're never that far from our own.

Beginning on 10 November and running every Sunday until 8 December, Miramar's Roxy Cinema is holding a David Lynch mini-retrospective, perfect for those who couldn't get enough of Twin Peaks or for movie buffs who know the films inside out and still get the Lynch-chills. At $15 a film, and with general seating, the Roxy Cinema allows you the freedom to jump into Lynch's world wherever you sit, for only a small fee.

The full list of films showing is on the Roxy website, but includes The Elephant Man (one of Lynch's earliest works), Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive (any Naomi Watts fans out there?). Each film is a trip, and one you won't forget in a hurry. Plus, the Roxy is great for snacks and drinks, so if you're the peckish-in-the-cinema type there'll always be something on hand. Whether you decide to go alone or in a group, you'll exit those big glass doors seeing the world slightly differently.
