Overview

These days of our lives make for pretty interesting reading, albeit with a detached sense of disbelief ('wait, what'd he just say?'). In a world with actual facts and alternative ones, it can be hard to know what to believe and how to make sense of what's going on. The Tomorrow People, a new exhibition opening at the Adam Art Gallery, offers up some possibilities for navigating these murky and uncharted waters.

The Tomorrow People shows the work of over 25 artists from an emerging generation and their hopes, concerns and questions about the future. The exhibition takes its name from a 1970s children's science fiction television show where normal kids suddenly develop special paranormal abilities but can only use these powers for good, not evil. Art-making is a kind of special power: it's the ability to draw the attention of others to the overlooked, the forgotten, the misunderstood.

If you haven't been to Victoria University's Adam Art Gallery before, the exhibition opening on Friday 21 July at 6pm is the perfect opportunity to head up the hill to enjoy a glass of wine and have a good look-see.
