Overview

Already known for its roaring 1920s-themed high tea, Hotel DeBrett is enhancing the afternoon sipping session by serving up a flight of prohibition cocktails.

At Hotel DeBrett's new Tipsy Tea guests can sit and sip the trio of drinks, alongside an afternoon tea stand. The 'Bees Knees' is a combination of gin, lemon, honey; the 'Mary Pickford' pairs white rum with grenadine, pineapple, maraschino liqueur and lime; and the 'Strawberry Rickey' is a vodka-based concoction with amaretto, strawberry, basil and lime.

To match, the savory selection includes revamped takes on smoked salmon pinwheels, deviled eggs and the classic prawn cocktail. The sweet treats include tiny lamingtons, jaffa mousse and hokey pokey tartlets — all paired with a selection of hand-picked New Zealand teas.

To complete the prohibition-era theme, the dress code is 'Flappers and Dappers' are can be complemented by 1920s packs filled with faux pearls, elegant headbands, demure long gloves and bright feather boas.

Tipsy Tea is served each weekend from 1pm to 4pm, and costs $75 per person.
