Trentham Races Summer Festival
Take the day off to wear oversized head adornments and bet on horses with ridiculous names.
Overview
If you’re lucky enough to still be in holiday-mode next Monday 19 January, let it be known that you are widely despised by all who have dragged their sunburnt selves back to the rat race. However, it is agreed that such blissful freedom should not be wasted, thus you should probably head along to the Summer Festival at Trentham Racecourse, chilly bin in tow, to soak up the last of that good ol’ summer holiday buzz.
A thoroughly treasured Kiwi tradition, the Interislander Summer Festival offers the perfect Monday agenda of fast horses, local food, live music and good company. Plus, there’s a range of kid’s entertainment on offer throughout the day to keep those little rug rats amused while you kick back and bet your coins on the horses with the most ridiculous names (best race day entertainment there is).
If you’re feeling a little bit posh, there are some package options to entertain your crew, including mini marquees, seating, full access to the Member’s Stand and, most importantly, bubbles. Because fancy. In any case, with tickets from just $10 a pop there’s never been a better excuse to whip out that fascinator (whip! Get it?).
