Overview

Everyone's favourite after dark art fest returns this June with an extra special celebration. City Gallery's monthly late night, Tuatara Open Late, is turning the big five and you get to enjoy the birthday treats.

Since the very first Open Late in June 2014, City Gallery has hosted 46 late nights. This popular monthly event gives Wellingtonians the opportunity to explore the gallery after dark with special guest talks, tours and live music, accompanied by local bites and brews.

For its fifth birthday celebrations, the jam-packed program includes a discussion on the eclectic sculptures of Eva Rothschild, a sci-fi themed book club, and a tour of Semiconductor: The Technological Sublime, an exhibition of mind-bending videos which blend science and art.

The celebrations will finish with an intimate, ticketed performance from Nadia Reid. This performance is now sold out, however you can email the gallery to go on the waitlist for tickets.

Supper goodies will be available from food slingers Dutchy's Burger Joint, which you can wash down with Tuatara beers and local wine from the cash bar.  RadioActive.fm DJ B.Lo will be spinning tunes throughout the night.

Bar and galleries open at 5pm. Entry by donation.
