Overview

On the first Thursday of every month, City Gallery opens its doors later than usual for Tuatara Open Late. The event profiles exhibitions showing in the gallery and pairs them with experts in their fields, arts commentators, musicians and performance artists.

The next Open Late will be in response to the current exhibition, Iconography of Revolt. Running until 18 November, the exhibition explores how artists, filmmakers, and designers have addressed the visual language of revolt — from the politically righteous to the frivolous.

This month, Eva Rothschild, Ireland's artist for the 2019 Venice Biennale, will talk about her work; Circuit Artist Film and Video will present five new works for cinema by artists Andrew de Freitas, Jeremy Leatinu'u, Vea Mafile`o, Janine Randerson, and Bridget Reweti; plus a special LitCrawl taster will see writers Nick Ascroft, Sam Duckor-Jones, Gigi Fenster, Helen Heath and Tayi Tibble respond to Patrick Pound: On Reflection.

Exhibitions will be open from 5 to 10pm as DJ TV Disko plays music for the revolution. The Greek Food Truck will be supplying supper treats and there will be a cash bar. The evening will commence with an exhibition tour of Arwa Alneami's Never Never Land.

Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
