Overview

Playwright Thomas Novachek is fed up. He's adapted a scandalous erotic novella from the 1800s into what he's sure will be a smash hit play. The issue is, he can't find a leading lady. Venus in Furs is the birthplace of sado-masochism, and needs the right siren.

Enter Vanda.

Sexy. Smart. Mischievous. Erotic.

A young actress desperate to impress, Thomas reluctantly auditions her. Aside from sharing the same name as his play's lead character, she not only knows the whole script by heart, but has an innate understanding of who she's portraying. As her desire twists and turns on itself, the lines blur between acting and reality.

Venus in Fur was nominated for Best Play at the 2012 Tony awards and has been called "a tantalising and unsettling exploration of sexual politics, both on and off the stage."
