Wellington Armageddon
Three full, action-packed days of nerdy bliss.
Overview
The lull before Easter can mean only one thing: cosplay time. Once again Amageddon is doing the rounds, and hitting Westpac Stadium for three full, action-packed days of nerdy bliss.
Just Wellygeddon is full to bursting with events all weekend long. From Saturday afternoon's Hotdog Eating Challenge to the Pokemon Go! Tournament on Sunday, there's almost too much to watch. Did we even mention the wrestling? A Wellygeddon staple, Impact Pro Wrestling offer four hours of family friendly, live entertainment for all three days — high energy, high impact, high intensity.
But as we all know, the main Wellygeddon attraction isn't the cosplay costumes or the Yu-Gi-Oh! Card tournament — it's the celeb factor. This year the celebs on display are well worth the $26 entry fee, with Nicholas Hoult (About A Boy, Skins, X-Men), Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, Sabrina) and Tom Welling (Smallville, Cheaper By The Dozen) as some of the top names.
For an up-close-and-personal with Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Lucifer) or Julian Richings (The Witch, Supernatural) it'll set you back a few pennies. Unfortunately, it's a selfie or an autograph for most of us, but for the utterly dedicated Armageddon offers an Ultra Pass for $1002 with a photo and an autograph from all the guests included.
If a weekend at Westpac Stadium takes your fancy, head over to the Armageddon Expo website for ticketing info. All scheduling, including panel talks, can also be found on the website — so make sure to check out times before you leave home, you don't want to miss the Chilli Eating Challenge on Sunday.
