Overview

The sounds, tastes, aromas and colours of India will be on full show along the waterfront this weekend as Wellington Diwali Festival returns for 2018. The ancient Hindu festival, and the celebratory lighting of lamps, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and the renewal of life.

TSB and Shed 6 venues will be a diverse spread of vegetarian Indian food, arts, crafts, fashion, henna and other information stalls. This year, the eight-hour non-stop program of entertainment will see local, regional and international artists showcasing traditional Giddha and Bhangra and contemporary Bollywood performances, with a particular focus on the Punjab region. Later, the Frank Kitts Park promenade will the spot to watch a giant fireworks display kick off over the harbour.

Entry is by gold coin donation.
