Overview

While a trip on Mexico's all-you-can-drink tequila train might be impossible under current border restrictions, you can still get your spirit fix right here in the capital. In celebration of National Tequila Day this month, a self-guided tequila trail will hop between Wellington bars from 24–26 July.

Following the official trail map, tequila enthusiasts can pop into any of the participating Kāpura (previously Wellington Hospitality Group) venues and sample a themed cocktail — presumably involving more than the chaser combo of lemon and salt.

On board for the three-day event are: The Churchill, Honey Badger Saloon, Munchen, Flamingo Joe's, The Garden Hotel, Bethel Woods, Foxglove Bar & Kitchen, The Green Man Pub, POP Wellington, Dillinger's, Mac's Brewbar and Fortune Favours. Some sites will also have additional tequila-themed activities to get involved with.

Stay tuned for the cocktail details and downloadable trail map.
