Overview

Wellington Women's Refuge and Te Whare Rokiroki Māori women's refuge do some damn important work. These organisations have the absolutely essential role in our region of providing support and advocacy to survivors of domestic abuse.

They're not for profit with about half the funding provided by government, but this doesn't go far enough for supporting Wellington's wāhine in need. These organisations rely on grants and support from the public, so the annual appeal is the best time to dig into your pockets, clear out the piggy bank or change jar, and make a rare trip to the ATM that's not on a veggie market day. They even have EFTPOS available at many collection points, so there's no excuse for not giving a few bucks.

Wellington Women's Refuge will have street collectors set up around the city, and are still searching for collectors who can volunteer even a little of their time to help continue these essential services.
