Wellycon Island

Overview

This year the hosts of Wellycon have gone all out, booking an island for the annual board game convention that will take place from December 31 until January 2.

The select few ticket holders — 44 in total — will head on over to Matiu (otherwise known as Somes) Island, located in Wellington Harbour, and see in the new year with a variety of gaming activities and a few special celebratory moments along the way.

The library of games available includes Forbidden, Fireball, Spirit or Dinosaur Island — to name a few. On top of games, attendees will also get a catered breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a snack bar to fuel all gaming marathons.

It wouldn't be New Years without fireworks. New Zealand's biggest board game convention has brought in the fireworks and bubbles to round out the island getaway. Tickets are available for camping at $250 or houses at $300. This price includes accommodation, the ferry trip, food and drinks, and the gaming library.
