The event billed as the 'greatest celebration of New Zealand wine' returns to the capital this October for two days of wine quaffing.
The lineup for Winetopia 2020 boasts wineries from every wine producing region in the country. As well as offering far too many varietals to swallow in one sitting, the event will give attendees the opportunity to meet winemakers, discover what terms like 'hue', 'flabby' and 'tannins' mean at tasting masterclasses, and school up on tricks from sommeliers about food and wine matching.
Prolific wine writer and journalist Joelle Thomson, alongside other wine gurus, will be on hand to share knowledge across free talks and tastings. Learn everything there is to know about sparkling wine, experience the classical pairing of wine and seafood, and discover how different glasses can enrich your tasting experience.
New to this year are the 'Wine Blind' sessions, which will explore what makes NZ wines so special. Winetopia has also asked featured wineries to bring along ultra-premium wines, which either come from a very successful vintage or have won prestigious awards. Ticket holders can taste the acclaimed drops using the new 'Golden Coins'.
