Overview

Parnell is getting a food market that's already a step above your average weekend jaunt — it'll be open all week long. 269 is set to open mid-2024, featuring seven permanent vendor spaces as well as a weekend market boasting an array of Latin American, European and Mediterranean food and drinks.

The vendors will be serving up tapas-style bites, to be enjoyed at the communal tables placed in the middle of the vibrant space, a type of dining that the 269 team hopes will encourage conversation between strangers. Although the lineup of vendors is yet to be revealed, 269 will be leaning heavily into Latin American and European style fare.

The concept for 269 comes from Kevin Harvey, otherwise known as the son of the man that restored the once decrepit area. In the 1970s, Kevin Harvey's father Les bought up crumbling villas and boutiques and transformed them into what we know as Parnell Village today.

Harvey said that he and his siblings Nancy and Tom want to continue what their father began over 50 years ago by creating 269.

"I want it to be alive like the markets in Europe or South America," Harvey said. "I feel like people need fun and some good food — we've all been through too much with COVID and everything. We need some joy and I want to help bring some colour back to Parnell."
