Funk Estate, the brewery known for creating psychedelic cans of overloaded crafty goodness, is finally coming back to Wellington. After splitting its time between the beaches of Tauranga and the windy capital, Funk Estate has found a place to call home in our city — you'll find them at 124 Vivian Street for an easy, squeezy pour.

If you've not tried some of the magic that Funk Estate brings to the New Zealand craft beer scene, you've been holding out for far too long. With pours such as the 6.0 percent Mimosa, a Hazy Brut OJ IPA that tastes just like your brunching fave with a twist, and the Highball Hoax, a summer sour with tastes of juniper and lemon, Funk Estate brings a fun addition to any bar.

Originally hailing from Wellington, the three-man collective of Dylan, Shiggy and Jordan is constantly working on new developments. From session beers to extreme sours, these guys know how Wellingtonians love to rate a pint, and they're careful with every ingredient. From unexpected passion fruit and grape notes in the Oh Lordy! NZ pale ale, to cold brew coffee and almond in the limited edition Afrogato. Head brewer Shiggy is keen to make every beer pop, which might be why even the artwork on the cans is so groovy — even if you can't remember the name of the beer next time you'll certainly remember the colours.

The new Wellington Funk Estate Fillery will be a paradise for crafty aficionados, as well as for those popping in after work. With nine taps to choose from, the Vivian Street complex will not only have Funk Estate's regular beers to choose from (such as those you can find at the supermarket), but also special, limited edition pours found nowhere else in the city. Selling merchandise, cans and artwork on-site, the Funk Estate Fillery will be a haven for any beer lover, or anyone in need of buying a beer lover a birthday present. Plus, there'll be the opportunity to buy more of your favourite pour in riggers — a cheaper, more sustainable option for the capital's Funk Estate drinkers.

Expect swarms of hipsters, craft beer drinkers and art lovers, because Funk Estate has something for everyone with their eye-popping cans, their thoughtfully crafted pours and with limited releases on the menu it'll be hard to keep any beer lover away for long. Renovations to 124 Vivian Street are expected to be completed in time for the launch party this Friday, 13 September — it'll be a groovy time for sure.
