Overview
Lovers of "really fucking hot" chicken are in for a treat as Australian cult fried chicken joint Belles is set to touch down in Wellington.
Belles Hot Chicken is the brainchild of Australian chef and former Nashville resident Morgan McGlone and Miranda Campbell. The pair have been combining eye-wateringly spicy fried chicken with natural wine and a bunch of hip hop since opening their first store in Fitzroy, Melbourne in 2014. They've since opened a further six restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney, and have featured on everything from Masterchef Australia to F*ck, That's Delicious with Action Bronson.
Belles last sent the capital into a frenzy at Shepherd in September 2017, prompting lines around the block. This time the fried chicken specialists will pop up as part of Welly on a Plate at the Visa Festival Hub. For one night only McGlone will be serving up favourites like the Belles chicken sandwich and chicken waffles. In cahoots will be local favourites Shepherd, Garage Project and Wine Diamonds.
The Hot For Chicken pop-up will take over WOAP's Visa Festival Hub from 5–10pm, 22 August.
