One in four children in New Zealand are living in poverty, kids in low decile schools are going hungry, however, every time the matter is brought up in parliament those in power seem to put up a wall. In a country of plenty it is a rather sad situation.

Materia Turei's 'Feed The Kids bill' was voted down by Parliament in March, since then many people have had their opinions heard but minimal tangible progress has been made. Until now. A solution, or part of a solution is in sight in the form of a new start up called Eat My Lunch.

Founded by Lisa King and award-winning chef Michael Meredith (Of Meredith's on Dominion Road), Eat My Lunch aims to give Kiwis the chance to create positive social change through something as simple and sensible as purchasing a wholesome $10 lunch designed by one of the best chefs in the country.

Every lunch bought by a paying customer equals another lunch given away to a Kiwi kid in an area of need. Thats $10 for two lunches. A bloody great deal by anyone's standards (particularly Auckland's).

Each lunch includes five items which change every day, the menu is focused around real food, less sugar, more veggies and nothing in a packet. It works as a subscription service, you choose the days you want it, and it will be delivered fresh to your school or workplace anywhere in Auckland.
