122 restaurants across the nation will take part in the Monteith's Wild Food Challenge this July, serving up an array of weird, amazing and imaginative dishes. Now in its 17th year, the food challenge is a celebration of food and beer matching, using locally sourced wild ingredients to develop a dish as the perfect accompaniment to a Monteith's beer or cider.
Over the duration of the month judge Kerry Tyack will his way across the country to trial all of the weird and outrageous - some of which include pan-seared alpaca loin, game-meat loaf consisting of braised pork head, venison shank and black pudding with a hare ragout, and roast water buffalo with black garlic and beer lacquer.
