Upper Hutt's bustling home of craft beer, Brewtown, is home to five award-winning breweries and taprooms, including Panhead Custom Ales, Boneface Brewing Company, Kereru, Te Aro Brewing, Good George, plus the Wild Kiwi distillery.

The marquee venue will soon be more than a destination to nurse a frosty one as it welcomes a huge new entertainment complex. The 4500-square-metre development will see Daytona Raceway owner Rob Blitz relocate his current go-kart raceway and ice-skating rink operation to Brewtown along with several new offerings.

Those include a brand new five-lane ten pin bowling alley, trampoline park and a large indoor paintball field opening at the start of September. A Flow Rider surf machine will complete the craft beer theme park in time for next summer.

Just 40-minutes from Wellington, Brewtown is located in the sprawling South Pacific Industrial park. Developer Malcolm Gillies bought the site in 2018, converting the old Dunlop Tyres factory into what is now the craft beer mecca.

Gillies highlights that the new development will appeal to corporate groups, family and friends looking for weekends away experiencing award-winning craft beer and enjoying leisure activities while travelling domestically in these unique times.

Construction of Brewtown's new entertainment complex has begun in preparation of the September 1 opening.
